Although the current economic climate in Greece remains cold and uncertain, a group of possibly naive optimists have opened a new business in Santorini. A Greek oenologist, a Serbian brewer, an English brewing enthusiast, and an American to round out the multi-cultural group, comprise the ingredients for this successful enterprise that hopes to enliven a heretofore lackluster domestic beer-drinking scene.

The vineyards, the winery (Volcan Wines) and the wine museum located in Santorini Vothonas on the road to Kamari beach. It is a small family business founded by the brothers Gregory and Dimitri Koutsogiannopoulo the year 1880. Today, four generations later, continues to operate with care and supervision of the current owner, George Koutsogiannopoulou.

Domaine Sigalas was founded in 1991 by Paris Sigalas, Christos Markozane and Yiannis Toundas. Initially, Sigalas winery was accommodated at the traditional winery of Paris Sigalas family. Later on, in 1998, a new wine production, bottling and maturity unit was built and activated in a privately owned area, in Oia, the northern part of Santorini Island. Today, after constant investments on technology modernization and expansions the current productive structure is formed, which allows the elaboration and bottling of 300.000 bottles a year.
